Connectivity is the One Service, All Others Build Upon.

Before any other consideration, you need to know how your network, devices, and programs are going to talk to each other.

Plug, Play, and Complexity

You can make one call, order one hookup, and be connected but be left vulnerable. What if you need more bandwidth? What if that connection goes down? What if that one hookup is going to take a long time and be very expensive to be installed? There are so many options and so many ways to achieve a strong, stable, robust organization-wide connection (across the building, across the street, or even around the world).

Speed and Performance

Underestimating requirements can cause real problems. Begin by calculating typical usage and how much speed will be needed at any given time should be one primary consideration. Are you looking for low-demand scenarios with light browsing/checking email, more intensive file sharing, video streaming / conferencing, or resource-heavy Cloud applications?

Cybersecurity/ Compliance

Varying your organization's connection types can help reduce or compartmentalize the network's attack surface. Some deployments, like laboratory or financial environments, by their nature, will require a dedicated private network versus a public network to ensure data reliability / integrity, maintain desired quality, and meet regulatory / compliance standards.

Location/Time to Install

Denser urban areas often have more options available, with location (and lead times) dictating the type of service and your provider's choices. If only the last part of the run needs to be built out the installation will probably be faster and cheaper. Depending on the situation, however, a little extra effort / expense to engage a preferred provider can be worth it.
